Rachel Gibson
Psychotherapist

“My aim as a Psychotherapist is not to bring my clients to an impossible state of happiness, but to a more content place in the context of their lives and what fits for them”

Personal statement
I have been working as a Clinical Psychotherapist since the completion of my four year Clinical Masters, with UCD/Mater School of Medicine and Medical Science in 2008.  I also possess a Degree in Psychology and have had extensive training from Oxford University and PCI in CBT (Cognitive Behavioural Therapy) and CBT-E (Eating Disorders).  I have been working within the public sector as a therapist for over a decade.

My aim is to work with people within the context of their lives and what makes sense to them, prioritising what is most important at the present time and taking steps towards recovery.  Over the years I have found that integrating both CBT and Systemic Psychotherapy delivers tangible results in a short timeframe.  Some clients find this useful where some find attending therapy over a longer period more useful in their recovery.

My training and qualifications allow me to see Individuals, Couples and Families, treating a wide range of Mental Health Issues although I have specialised in Eating Disorders, Depression, OCD & Relational Difficulties.

Wondering if therapy is for you?

Do you ever ask yourself questions like these?

•    Is the way I think normal?
•    Do other people experience theses feelings?
•    Why do I have these racing thoughts?
•    Is my relationship with my family or Partner normal?
•    Will I ever recover or be able to control my thinking & behaviours?

If these questions seem familiar to you then psychological treatment can help regulate these thoughts and reduce ongoing ineffective safety behaviours.

Rachel specialises in the following areas:
Eating Disorder Assessment, Treatment & Advice; Anxiety; Depression; OCD

Treatment methods used:
Systemic Psychotherapy (Specific for Couples & Families)
CBT (Cognitive & Behavioural Change, Anxiety, Depression, OCD)
